Peter, Ramen Eater

I thought I hit my ramen quota for the month of May, but I couldn’t resist ramen knowing I was only a 15 minute walk away from Little Tokyo. So I called my friend, Peter, who lives nearby and is one of our devoted Ramen Run fans.

Peter and I have known each other for a long time. We went to college together and it was the semester before we graduated that I introduced him to ramen. Peter is not so big on social networking, but I knew he was hooked on ramen the day he “liked” my Ramen Run page and I saw him take a picture of ramen on his Instagram. Haha!

I decided to take him to Shin Sen Gumi in Little Tokyo, even though I was there the week before. But that place is so damn good! I got the usual: hard noodle, light oil, normal broth, extra chashu and side of flavored egg. And of course, hanging out with Peter would not be complete unless there is beer involved. So, we had a few rounds of Orion beer.

There really is no need for me to explain how good the ramen was at Shin Sen Gumi in Little Tokyo. If you want good ramen, just go there. Seriously. You won’t be disappointed. This is my number one ramen house at the moment. I’m sure Peter would go back, he seemed to have enjoyed it as well.
I have to say that I have really grown to appreciate Downtown LA with the cool little restaurants, bars and Little Tokyo. The Disney Concert Hall (that lump of metal above) is quite a sight to see. Although, I still can’t figure out how I feel about it. There are days I think it looks awesome, and there are days I think it is just plain ugly.
I’m glad I finally had the chance to have ramen with Peter, it’s been a long time since I last saw him. He has been wanting to have ramen with the “expert,” what he calls me. Hehe. I can’t exactly call myself an expert, but I do know when something tastes good!
Thanks for reading.
