Cultural Enrichment in DTLA

Hi friends, Joan here!

Long time no see! But I just went to a new ramen spot over the weekend and wanted to quickly share about it.

One of the things that I love about LA, especially Downtown LA, is that you can transport yourself to different countries within a 1 mile radius. I brought my friend, Elena, who’s originally from Saint Petersburg, Russia, and has not visited DTLA yet.

As I was googling ramen spots that had vegan options in Little Tokyo, I stumbled upon Okiboru House of Tsukemen. It’s summer, it’s hot… and tsukemen will hit the spot! Heh. That rhymed. Anyway… Okiboru was located in China Town instead.

I Heart LA

This stupid thing would not let me make a heart icon at the title! Ughhh… ❤ ❤ ❤

Hey everyone!

I went to Kotoya Ramen in West LA again two nights ago after work. I really enjoyed the ramen there last week and since I was staying in the area, I thought I’d go back!

My cousin, Michelle, (who I stay with when working in LA) joined me again for this ramen run. We had a different server this time and she was great! I should have asked for her name.

We ordered some sides and they were quite good. The chicken was nice but the gyozas were very delicious and juicy inside!

Long, Lost Friend

Hi everyone!

I really thought I was caught up with the blogs. But I had completely forgotten about a pretty recent ramen run. As I was scrolling through my Instagram feed today, I came across someone, who happened to have gone on a ramen run with me!

His name is Shawn. Yeah, he’s one of those weird ones that spell their name “Shawn” instead of the traditional and more masculine spelling of “Sean.”

Anyway, I’ve known Shawn since the 7th grade, back in Hawaii at Waipahu Intermediate School. My memories of Shawn were not pleasant ones. He was very mean to me, along with his group of friends. They used to make fun of how scrawny I was and called me String Bean. They also use to pull on my bra strap when I wasn’t looking. But every time they did that, they found themselves on the ground.

This was Shawn in the 7th grade. He had a penis haircut.
