Another first timer

Hey, Tanya here!

Finally! After almost two years of dating, I convinced Aaron to eat authentic ramen with me. He was always pretty skeptical of driving far just for a meal, but I did want to bring him somewhere where we can have fun after we ate.

I took Aaron to Ajisen because there are several different bowls of ramen to choose from because I knew he wasn’t the biggest fan of pork.

T.A.E. Part 4: Post and Pre-Birthday Ramen

Hey everyone!

“T.A.E.” stands for Total Asian Experience, a series of blog posts that started almost three years ago. A total Asian experience would be a routine of activities every time we go on a ramen run in Hacienda/Rowland Heights.

After having average ramen in San Francisco, I really needed to “goodly corrupt” my taste buds with better ramen. This past Sunday, my friend Angie wanted to take Matt and I out for ramen to celebrate our birthdays. I just had my birthday last week and Matt will have his later this week. We went to Ajisen in Rowland Heights.

Reunion Ramen

Hey everyone,

This past Sunday night, I had ramen with an old friend of mine, Jeraldin. I had not seen her in over 10 years! Jeraldin and I went to school together back when we both lived in Hawaii. When I recently found out she moved to Santa Monica, we started hanging out. We met up for a ramen dinner then went to the Basement Tavern to watch my friend, Max, and his awesome reggae band, Bodhi Rock.

I wanted to check out a new ramen place, but most ramen places around were closed early on a Sunday night. Luckily, Kotoya, one of my favorite ramen joints, their last call was at 9:30. When we got there, there was a smaller crowd and we immediately sat ourselves at the bar. Everyone that works there, are so nice. It always felt good to walk in and everyone, including the chefs, would greet you. I think they recognize me by now, as they seemed to have the look on their faces that they were glad to see me again. Well, I hope they were glad to see me back. (Last time I was there, I showed up piss drunk and going off on some crazy rant… Haha.)

Lunch Break

Hello folks,

Just writing a quick post for ya. I finally checked out the new Noodle & Noodle restaurant which was only two blocks from my office in Pasadena. Before going there, I read about the place on Yelp to see what it was all about.

Noodle & Noodle is owned by a Thai restaurant called Nine & Nine, which used to occupy Noodle’s current location before moving a few doors down. I walked past Noodle last week and found that they have ramen on their menu. Knowing that they are owned by a Thai restaurant, I knew I couldn’t expect authentic ramen but I had to try it! And I’ve eaten at Nine before and thought the food was pretty good.

There were few people in the restaurant when I arrived. I sat myself at the bar area, even though it just faced a wall. I was pretty fascinated by their collection of Tonka trucks!
