When you can’t seem to stay away from that one thing/person and you just have to keep coming back, it must be love…. or an addiction.
This is Joan and I have found my true love… and it is Kotoya. I ate there every other day for about a week! Yes, I fell in love with Kotoya before but had to distance myself because it was too good to be true. But I went back and became addicted to a few new items on their menu. I could not stay away.

Hey folks, Joan again.
I have begun my quest for tsukemen! Because I was in Santa Monica visiting Michelle, I couldn’t resist going to Kotoya again! (Yes, I love that place…)
It was a Friday night and the restaurant was packed! We didn’t sit at the bar this time.
Max is gonna kill me for getting ramen without him again! Oops.
I sat in for my friend Max’s reggae band, Bodhi Rock, at the Basement Tavern during Cinco de Mayo. Since I was only supposed to play during the second and third set, I went to Santa Monica early enough to grab some dinner with my friends, Matt and Angie. Although I’ve been there several times, I couldn’t resist going to Kotoya Japanese Ramen.
Red Ramen Level 2
This past Sunday night, I had ramen with an old friend of mine, Jeraldin. I had not seen her in over 10 years! Jeraldin and I went to school together back when we both lived in Hawaii. When I recently found out she moved to Santa Monica, we started hanging out. We met up for a ramen dinner then went to the Basement Tavern to watch my friend, Max, and his awesome reggae band, Bodhi Rock.
I wanted to check out a new ramen place, but most ramen places around were closed early on a Sunday night. Luckily, Kotoya, one of my favorite ramen joints, their last call was at 9:30. When we got there, there was a smaller crowd and we immediately sat ourselves at the bar. Everyone that works there, are so nice. It always felt good to walk in and everyone, including the chefs, would greet you. I think they recognize me by now, as they seemed to have the look on their faces that they were glad to see me again. Well, I hope they were glad to see me back. (Last time I was there, I showed up piss drunk and going off on some crazy rant… Haha.)
Last night was a very inebriated ramen run. I can’t believe I remember everything about it. But at least I can tell you all what happened!
After work in Downtown LA, I went to Santa Monica to stay with my cousin. For dinner, we wanted to go to Kotoya again because it was close to Michelle’s house and I was really in the mood for their delicious ramen! Well, it was still early and Kotoya wasn’t open yet, so we decided to have a drink… or two… or three. Three whiskies.
There was no way we were driving so we caught the bus!
Joan here. Lately, people have been asking me about my favorite ramen places. After having realized that we’ve been to more than twenty ramen places so far, I think this is a good time for me to start one of many blogs on our current favorites. This list will be updated every several months or so. Each restaurant listed will include a link to a blog or two about it. I hope this will come in handy anytime you’re out looking for ramen!
Hey! Tanya here. My input might run a bit small but I look forward to trying out new places.
This stupid thing would not let me make a heart icon at the title! Ughhh… ❤ ❤ ❤
I went to Kotoya Ramen in West LA again two nights ago after work. I really enjoyed the ramen there last week and since I was staying in the area, I thought I’d go back!
My cousin, Michelle, (who I stay with when working in LA) joined me again for this ramen run. We had a different server this time and she was great! I should have asked for her name.
We ordered some sides and they were quite good. The chicken was nice but the gyozas were very delicious and juicy inside!

The ramen I had last night was amazing! I went on a ramen run with my cousin, Michelle, after some galavanting in downtown LA. But before I get to the ramen, check out these cool places we went to!
I love the buildings in LA
