Hi all, Joan here!
Just sharing a quick post of a spot I found on a whim as I was driving home from visiting family. I’ve been eyeing some new spots out in the San Gabriel area but wanted to save them for another time. Anyway, I found a place called King of Ramen in Pasadena on my way home.
I’ve never heard of this place, nor are they on social media. But I was intrigued so I gave it a try!
The restaurant is located in a small shopping center with ample parking. When I got inside, I was the only customer there. Of course, it was a random Tuesday around 2 o’clock so I wasn’t expecting a crowd.
I have to say, this place was not too bad! The noodles had a nice chewy texture, the broth was light but had a good flavor, and the topping combinations worked really well. I’ve really been digging this whole sliced tomato chashu substitute. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was how quickly the fried onions became soggy. I also ordered the pumpkin tempura and it tasted really good.
Overall, it was a satisfying bowl of ramen. I can’t say it was mind-blowing but I really liked how big of a serving you get for the price you pay. The bowl was pretty freakin’ huge and I was definitely stuffed after also having the pumpkin tempura.
Would I come back here? I think I would! Especially if I’m lost in Pasadena and starving to death, I know I would definitely get my money’s worth at King of Ramen.
Thanks for reading!
Joan
